AUTUMN WEEKEND SAILING CRUISE FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR PARENTS, PLUS OTHER ADULTS, ON SEPTEMBER 30, OCTOBER 1 2017, IN FIVE YACHT

For the last three years a group of us have hired several, eleven berth, 43 footers and a slightly smaller 37 footer and cruised from Gosport to Yarmouth. These cruises were very enjoyable and we are going to repeat the event this year on the weekend of September 30 / October 1st with 3 hired yachts and 2 private yachts. 
 This event is to give children and their parents the experience of sea sailing in the relatively sheltered waters of the Solent, and to take other other adults as well - approximately 50% adults and 50% juniors. Juniors younger than 15 need to be accompanied by an adult. An ideal typical crew on each yacht would be Skipper (a club member), 2 experienced offshore adult parents, 2 or 3 more adult sailors, 5 or 6 juniors. Total 11 per yacht.  
 The programme will be: Arrive Gosport (Portsmouth Harbour) 7.30pm, Fri, evening meal on old light-ship. Sat: early rise. Sail to Cowes. Lunch and walk. Sail on to Yarmouth via, tide & weather permitting, the Needles or Newtown Creek. Walk, eat out & spend night in Yarmouth. Early rise. Sail to Bucklers Hard on Beaulieu River; walk and lunch; sail to Gosport. Arrive 6 pm Sun eve. Home 9pm.  
 The cost of each large yachts is £1125, a little more than last year.  That's about £104 per head per adult and £84 for juniors under 18 for full boats. There is also fuel, marina fees for 1 night & 2 short stops, meals - these costs shared in similar proportions to above. Those without offshore waterproofs can hire them for £15 per person.  
 If you are interested, please e-mail Mike Jones asap giving, for sailing school families, parents(s) name(s) and sailing experience, including valid big boat licences if you have them and Juniors names age and experience and whether or not sailing school members. For adult members give name, age and experience, including valid licences if you have them. Trysail members may apply. First come, first served, but I will also need to select in order to have a balanced team.  
 Please note this is not a commercial or official club venture. It is an informal event with like-minded friends. If you are concerned regarding personal insurance you need to arrange your own. Lifejackets and a life-raft are included.
