Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club welcomed thirty competitors on Saturday morning with bright sunshine and a steady force 4.
From the windward mark in the first race a close battle developed between John Reay and Steve Janering with the former just taking the race by half a boatlength on the short fetch to the finish. Behind them Rob Sumner broke away from the pack to take third with Chris Smith in fourth.
The second race followed straight away in similar conditions and this time Rob Sumner managed to get away from the start and was never headed. Behind Steve and Rob Janering had a close race with Steve taking another second place. John Reay followed up his first race win with fourth place.
After a welcome rest over lunch the fleet ventured out in slightly fresher conditions and the wind built all afternoon. This time Steve Janering stamped his authority on the fleet with a comprehensive win from Rob Sumner in second, followed by Mark Sancken in third.
The wind had now built to force 5 gusting 6 and as the weary sailors sailed to the line the race officer welcomed them by putting up an extra lap to look forward to! From the start Mark Sancken and Rob Hardwick showed the necessary technique and fitness to build up a good lead with Rob Janering third and Paul Wright Anderson in fourth. Neither Steve Janering or Rob Sumner could improve on their previous results so the former took the event. Mark Sancken's afternoon surge took him up to third along with first Master from John Reay in fourth. Louis McVeigh took first Radial and Fiona Taylor first Lady.
