Topper Open Important Notice To Saturday Club Sailors

2011 Topper Open at Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club, Race 1

Plenty of weather for the Topper Open on Saturday Sept 17th... In the morning they had a very considerable blow, 2 races in what was a very solid Force 5, and gusty with it: conditions that would have challenged most of us... The afternoon started with a slightly less windy race which featured some very heavy rain showers, followed by a light weather race, probably little more than the top of Force 1. The wind then started shifting around enthusiastically so the RC had to attempt to reset the course and in the event the planned 5th race had to be abandoned due to shortage of time, so best out of 4 it was... A very hard fought series it was too, with at least three boats being in with a shout of the win at the start of Race 4...

The event went to the super consistent Hamish Streeter from Hayling Island, with three seconds and a cementing win in race 4. Elliot Marks from Broadstairs finished second on tie break counting two wins and a 6th from Papercourt's Clive Jackson who counted 1,4,3.

The other prizes went mostly to Island Barn's Nancy Scott, who took home U13, best lady and best home boat prizes...

We should have a full report to follow: this is just a placeholder...
