Single handed sailing (that's one sailor [hand] in the boat, not sailing with one hand tied behind your back) is in some ways easier than sailing with a crew, and in other ways more difficult. On the one hand there's no need for the co-ordination between the two of you, and no need to ensure that both of you can get to the Sailing Club at the same time.
On the other hand certain manouvers are easier because one person can steer the boat whilst the other gets on with whatever else needs doing, be it catching the jetty, hoisting the spinnaker or bailing the boat.
