Following on from last year’s learning to race days that we ran ourselves… This year we have gone one better and have arranged for Tim Anderton – RYA regional Club coach to run an all day ‘Can sail – Can’t race’ training session. This is aimed at anyone who can sail round a triangular course, but is a novice to racing. This would be particularly helpful for all new sailors (Try Sailors from the last few years) and anyone who is relatively new to racing. Tim will cover all the basics of racing with a mixture of lecture and practical sessions.
We are very lucky to have Tim who runs this sort of course quite regularly. Tim is a regional RYA coach who works with Volvo Clubs coaching more advanced youngsters as well as himself being a former top laser sailor who these days says he sails all sorts of boats.
Gareth (who gave last year’s course) will be helping and ready to answer any follow-up questions. We hope to include some video analysis. We plan to have several more experienced IBRSC ‘experts’ available for discussions and follow-up questions.
There will be a limit on the number of places, so please sign up now. Priority will go to new sailors and those relatively new to racing. If you would like to help on the day we would like to have a few extra helpers.
Please email Gareth to register - Solo4859@ntlworld.com
If you don’t get a reply within a day or two please call Gareth because NTL are doing some messing around with emails at the moment. I think everything is coming through!
